It's the full moon today. Almost every culture has its share of lunar lore, from werewolves to lunacy to true love. Do you believe that the full moon affects our behavior or do you think it's a myth?
I once thought that the full moon thing was just a myth. Then, I got a job in childcare; I don't even need a calendar anymore to tell when there's a full moon. I can tell quite easily by how weird the kids start acting. Finally an explanation for my ridiculously short naptimes this week.
By the ocean of course, who gives a crap about mountains, I want to be able to go swimming!!!! OH and that means that a sandy beach would be a necessity as well. Oh and NO SNOW!!!!!Ok so here 5 go dreaming again.
So I had a busy day at work today. For the first time since I changed classrooms we had a full house today. This is before I mention that it was Monday and for some weird reason many of the kids were unusally crabby today. Nicely enough the icy conditions that we got hit with today enticed many of our parents to pick up their children early today, which led to me getting off an hour early and in high hopes that I will either not have to work tomorrow, or (more probable) have a riduculously shortened day.
In terms of what's been going on in my personal life, we really enjoyed going back to Michigan to visit family over the Thansgiving holiday. What wasn't fun was having my wife, Kristy get sick when we got home. She did start feeling better this weekend so yay for us getting the Christmas tree put up(and partially decorated) and getting started with the task of Christmas shopping.
Thats all for now, I feel kinda bad for not posting to my journal more often, but life hasnt presented itself with a whole lot of post-worthy material...and I've bene lazy. I promise I'll get better.
Whether it's a canary in the coal mine or a waitress in the weeds, idiomatic expressions can sometimes stump us even in our own language. What common expression puzzles you the most?
How is it that when I say "I could care less" or "I couldn't care less" they both mean the same thing?
Why is it that we say I'm taking a crap when in reality you are leaving one.
but the one that takes the cake for me is when people say its "cold as hell"---Have you heard about hell???? Everything I've heard is that hell tends to be filled with fire, which tends to be hot?
The New York Times was first published on this day in 1851. How important is print news to you? Does the internet render circulation obsolete, or will print never die?
The internet is a wonderful place to go for information!! Especially when you are looking for information about a city that you can't get a local paper for. However, at the same time, I still find myself liking the print version better. As far as books go, I'm not an avid reader, but I know my wife is, and I'm sure there are many more like her, therefore I certainly hope that the press can continue to coexist with the net.
Well, How happy we are to finally be settled into the new apartment, and yay for me getting through my last job and last Sunday at my Rhinelander church without tears. A GREAT BIG THANK YOU!!!!!! goes out to the Kirby kids and Bill from Pine Grove Church and Josh from Mad-town for the massive amounts of help moving. I think that was the first time Ive ever heard of someone having a Uhaul loaded and unloaded and returned all in less than 24 hours. So far the new job is going wonderfully, Im with 8-18 mo olds with one co-teacher.(8 kids in our room) so never a boring day in my work life lol. We were also blessed to have had our pastor from Rhinelander recommend Blackhawk Church to us, which we are loving!!! To those that I havent been in touch with....Sorry been busy as !@#$ since I moved and went right to work and didnt get my unpacking week that I thought I was gonna get. oh and Yay for finally having a weekend that we aren't going oot or doing any major activities or anything....Ahhhhhhhh life as normal(I say normal verrrrrrryyy loosely) at last!!!!!
Not that we're not happy in Rhinelander or anything but, Ive been offered a position in Madison that I absolutely cannot refuse. I'm so excited to be going to a new bigger city and all the opportunities there, but I will certainly miss all the relationships that I was able to develop in Rhinelander. We're looking at moving somwhere in the Aug 18-24 date range as I start my new job on the 25th. Anyways anyone thats available either on the Rhinelander end or on the Madison end thats willing to help would be greatly appreciated...Well now that my thoughts are out on paper...errr on da puter maybe I can get some sleepies.
Sorry I've been so lax in writing- Been busy as %$$*&( lately!!! Anyways not much is new. Kristy and I severely needed to get out of town last weekend so we drove down to Green Bay and were quite excited to find a Long John Silvers on the way!!! We havent had that in FOREVER. Anyways I have a home classroom at work again- Not that I minded floating-- but yea for the 6wk-1yr crowd. Its fun so far- I finally got around to rearranging my room yesterday and am so excited to go back on Monday(ok so maybe thats exaggerating a little) Anyways also looking forward to the 4th coming up when I can make it back to visit fam in MI and use some of my less than legal fireworks that I dont dare try in the city where Im at now. Anyways thats all for now. My prayers go out to all those affected by the flooding downstate and elsewhere in the country.
Has anyone else ever wondered why it seems that those weeks that go along with a 3 day weekend (a only 4 day workweek) seem to take longer to go by? Nothing overly terrible, Just seemed to take forever for this weekend to get here. We had a WONDERFUL Mem. Day weekend enjoyed with both sets of parents. Kristy and I took a drive down to Mackinaw City Sunday night and we were able to talk about a lot of stuffs that we've been needing to talk about and then her mom was able to talk to me as well about all the stuff that goes with having a parent that is getting dementia, and going downhill fast, while I am 300 miles away. We did decide that, even though Kristy might not be able to come with every time, more frequent visits to the parents would be appropriate. A GREAT BIG THANK YOU goes out to Kristy's parents who went so far above and beyond putting us up for the weekend (or is that supposed to be putting up with us???) and took us shopping and just basically saw to it that we had a awesome time.
As far as the workweek goes, I was in the 3 yr old room all last week, which was OK. I made quite a few changes to the room and am somewhat eager to see what the regular teacher thinks about it on Monday (All other center staff LOVE IT) I am also very excited that I am kinda getting a home classroom in the Tiny Tots bldg. working with younger than 2 yr olds.--Just will be moving around a bit on mtw afternoons which is ok.
Boooo for me getting sick mid-week. Was kinda weird tho Thought I was gonna have to call in when I went to bed Wed. night and woke up on Thurs feeling fine. Allergies...Grrrrrrr.
As far as our plans for this weekend- Well after last weekend I think its a good time to do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!!
What a quetion to get me thinking!!! First of all, I would make attempts to find out where the baby came from, who his/her parents were, and how/why it got to be in my care. Assuming I got no answers from that search then of course I would keep it and care for it as if it were my own. As far as a name is concerned, that is something that I would discuss with my wife and have to decide if and when that time came, depending on the personality of the baby.
